IDENTIDAD LATINA, the Hispanic newspaper edited in Hartford and distributed throughout the State of Connecticut, announces the 3rd edition of their LATINO DE ORO Awards, which recognizes the Latin institutions and individuals who work hard to improve the Hispanic community in Connecticut throughout the year.

The awards have been designated LATINO DE ORO because the term “Latino”, respresents our identity in the United States. The “Oro” pays homage to the precious metal that in ancient times, the Latin-American lands produced in abundance.

The LATINO DE ORO 2007 Awards will be given out in 10 categories: Politics, Education, Sports, Art & Culture, Music, Media, Health, Student, Contributor to the Latin Community and Lifetime Achievement. The election of the winners will be made by a pre-selected panel of judges, formed by leaders of the community, who will evaluate all nominees and their merits.

IDENTIDAD LATINA and the LATINO DE ORO, were born in Hartford, CT with the purpose of recognizing the hard labor of the Latin population, which is constantly growing within our state and across the nation.

We invite all individuals, organizations and companies to actively participate in this event. Which will take place on November 17th, starting at 7:00 pm. at the Thorpe Theater of the Central State CT University, 1615 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT 06050.
